Why Glass Mineral Wool?
Glass mineral wool is central to every URSA product due its combination of thermal and acoustic performance, as well as being non-combustible.
URSA stands out as a trusted partner with a legacy of 70 years in providing innovative insulation solutions with a diverse product portfolio. We pride ourselves on delivering excellence and reliability for every project, big or small.
URSA’s glass mineral wool products insulates by trapping and holding air within its fibres, enhancing comfort for building occupants by keeping it warmer in winter and cooler in summer. The greater the temperature difference between the inside and outside of a building, the faster it will lose heat in winter and gain heat in summer. Our glass mineral wool solutions help maintain a stable internal temperature by reducing heat transfer through convection, conduction, and radiation.
The thermal conductivities for URSA’s products range from 0.032-0.044W/mK.
URSA’ glass mineral wool insulation works by absorbing and dampening sound waves, which helps reduce sound transmission through walls, floors and ceilings. This helps create a better internal environment for building occupants.
As fire safety in buildings is always a critical consideration, specifiers and builders should understand the advantages of installing glass mineral wool insulation. All URSA’s glass mineral wool insulation products are deemed non-combustible with a fire classification of Euroclass A1 when tested to EN 13501-1:2018 Reaction to Fire.
URSA’s glass mineral wool insulation is suitable for traditionally built or modern domestic dwellings where it is typically installed in walls, roofs and floors. And it’s also suitable for modular or portable buildings as well as off-site construction. It’s also used to insulate masonry cavities and high rise buildings.
Recycled and recyclable.
We strongly support the European Union’s strategy for a circular economy and the commitment to reducing waste and minimising the use of natural resources by recycling.
Using recycled materials helps to reduce the use of virgin raw materials in production process. This leads to a more efficient use of natural resources. Ideally, final products can be re-used in different applications, or can be re-introduced into the production process like in the case of production waste. This improves the life cycle impact of our materials by reducing the impact on the environment.
URSA’s glass mineral wool supports this concept.
For our glass mineral wool, we use recycled glass (consumer glass waste and car industry glass) as our raw material. We also re-channel our production waste back into our production processes. And we are developing concepts and practices to use glass wool waste from demolition as input material for our production.
Insulation is essential for creating comfortable, energy-efficient, and safe living and working spaces. By improving energy efficiency, insulation helps reduce heating and cooling costs, leading to significant energy savings. It enhances thermal comfort by maintaining stable indoor temperatures, ensuring a more pleasant environment throughout the year. Insulation also plays a key role in noise reduction, minimising sound transmission between rooms or from the outside, creating quieter spaces.
We're proud to have gained several certifications and accreditations that provide our customers with the assurance that our products are manufactured to the relevant industry standards, having passed a series of comprehensive and rigorous assessments which ensures they're fit for their intended purpose.
